What we promise

The directory

Businesses are listed for free, whether or not they have ever paid us anything, and a listing is not an endorsement — we have not visited, vetted or checked them. Most entries come from OpenStreetMap, which anyone can edit, so some will be wrong or out of date. Tell us and we will fix or remove it; you do not have to prove anything.

The calendar

Anyone can submit an event and a person reads every submission before it appears. We print the facts of an event — who, what, when, where, what it costs — and write our own description rather than copying anyone's. If you organise something and would rather not be listed, say so and it goes.

What we do not promise

That we are right. We assemble this from public feeds, town notices and things neighbours send us, and some of it will be wrong. Check anything that matters — a closure, a deadline, a start time — with whoever is running it. We are a paper, not a source of record, and nothing here is legal, financial or medical advice.

We also do not promise the paper is forever. If we stop, we will say so in an edition rather than simply going quiet, and the archive stays where it is.

Your words

If you send us an event, a listing or a correction, you are giving us permission to print it and to keep it in the archive. You keep whatever rights you had in it. Do not send us other people's writing or photographs.

Getting in touch

Every edition has a reply address and every page has the publisher at the bottom. A person reads it.
